This past Monday, Boston's House of Blues was packed to capacity in cult like fashion for the Swedish rockers in Ghost. While Ghost may not be a household name, their original blend of melodic and theatric rock is held sacred by the band's fans. Ghost, led by Papa Emeritus III and his accompanying Ghouls were sporting tunes from their latest album, Meliora, which leads Sirius XM radio waves with singles like, "Cirice," "From the Pinnacle to the Pit," and "Majesty." While Ghost's popularity is on the rise, their live show has earned them a reputation; even sharing the stage with the likes of Avenged Sevenfold and Deftones.
After the psychedelic opening set from UK act Purson, Ghost made their eerie presence known with an epic rendition of Meliora's opening track "Spirit." The packed venue of hard-rocking Bostonians responded with vigor and emotion as Ghost continued to guide the crowd through a sermon of favorites like "Year Zero," "If You have Ghosts," "Absolution," and "Monstrance Clock." Ghost has had a contagious effect amongst their die hard group of fans, if you haven't given them a listen, it may be time.
