By Mike Connelly Green Day will be partnering with Abramorama to distribute ‘Turn It Around: The Story of East Bay Punk.’ The punk rockers will be serving as executive producers on the film and also be providing interviews on the East Bay Punk Scene. No dates have been said currently. The Movie will be in North American theaters and will coincide with Green Day’s “Revolution Radio” tour.
“We’re proud to bring the history of this movement to the world and hope the film inspires people to create their own music and to build an artistic community.”- Billie Joe Armstrong The movie will be narrated by Iggy Pop and feature many different artists. Members from Rancid, Metallica, The Offspring, Dead Kennedys, Bad Religion and Guns N’ Roses will all be present in the film. These bands started the fire in East Bay and brought punk rock to the masses. By Francesco Albanese The 4th annual Acoustic-4-A-Cure concert created by legendary guitarist Sammy Hagar and Metallica frontman, James Hetfield, will be lead this year by none other than Foo Fighters frontman and musical-every-man, Dave Grohl. After announcing that Hetfield would have to bow out of this year's performance due to Metallica's summer WorldWired tour, the announcement came as a welcome to music fans.
While bittersweet, Hagar will be joined by Grohl, as well as former Eagles guitarist Don Felder, Mick Fleetwood, Grateful Dead icon Bob Weir, Steve Vai, Vic Johnson, Sarah McLachlan and Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo. "The benefit concert raises funds and awareness for the pediatric cancer research with all proceeds donated to UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital," according to the members of Metallica. Tickets for the event go on sale March 31st at 10 a.m. Pacific time at Live Nation. Check the event's website for more info! By Michael Connelly All That Remains is set to release on ‘Madness,’ on April 28th. The band released their debut song and lyric video “Halo.” This will be the band’s eighth album and recorded at West Valley Studios in Woodland Hills, California. The Massachusetts based band will be working with Howard Benson on the album who has worked with bands such as Motorhead, Papa Roach, and Three Days Grace.
The band will also embark on a US tour at the end of April in support of the album. The tour will kick off in Jacksonville, Florida right after the album drops and will conclude may 25th at Patchogue, New York. Phil Labonte, Vocalist, told Revolver Magazine about the writing process saying: "We wanted to mix it up a little bit and write from a vocal perspective this time. So I went to L.A. and came up with vocal ideas and melodies and then sent those chord progressions back to Oli and he wrote riffs in response to that. [Doing it this way] turned the record into a vocal album as opposed to a guitar album. And that affected some things. Like, there might be less intricacy in the riffs because they were written in response to my voice." Below are the tour dates and track list for Madness. Madness 01. Safe House (Released) 02. Along for the ride will be special guests Every Time I Die, with Modern Chemistry for the first half, and All Get Out on the final half. Frontman Adam Lazzara sat down with Radio.com last November telling them,"We can go one way and that way would be the easy way and just write what people expect from us or we can write something that's very true to the people that we are right now… not only in our lives but the music we're listening to. And that's the road we took and thankfully it's been going really well cause the whole thing could have blown up in our face." Don't forget the band just released a music video last month for the track "Call Come Running" which was featured on their last record. You can watch the video here. Earlier this week the band released their single "Glitterbomb" on streaming services as well as their second single "Nimble Bastard." These two tracks are the featured singles that listeners will find on the band's eighth studio album "8" which is set to release April 21st.
These new tracks seem to find the band in a darker and heavier place than they have before, themes that we will most likely find on the rest of the album. While heavier, the band handles the sound well and makes the upcoming album very promising. Lead singer Brandon Boyd tells Radio.com, "What we're doing as artists is acting as a mirror to culture here and there and hopefully offering little glimmers of hope through the joy in music we all have." Be sure to check out the new tracks on Spotify and to pre-order the album on the band's website! By Francesco Albanese They promised and they delivered. Seether announced earlier that they would be giving fans a 'heavier' sound on their next record "Poison the Parish" and with the release of their new single "Stoke the Fire" on March 22nd, it appears that the band is planning on making good on their word.
Lead singer Shaun Morgan sat down with Loudwire Nights host Toni Gonzalez on the album informing Gonzalez, “I think [this album] is probably something heavier than we’ve done in a while,” Morgan told . “There’s more of a return to the sound we had on the first few albums and I know that people wanted that.” The new record was recorded at Blackbird Studios in Nashville, Tenn., and will release on May 12. Fittingly so, this record will be the first release on Morgan’s new label imprint, Canine Riot Records. The band is also planning a long late spring to late summer tour this year commencing on April 29th to August 20th with assistance from Clint Lowery of Sevendust, Letters From the Fire, Through Fire, Kaleido, and Big Story. Additional tour dates and info can be found on Seether's website. Pre-orders on iTunes are now available and tickets can be purchased now on their website! After six years of being inactive Gorillaz have announced a new album titled Humanz. Over the past few months they have been teasing fans with singles. The new singles have a blurry dark club vibe. It meshes sounds that create new sensations for the ear. The album was written before Donald Trump was elected president and has now taken on a new meaning for many listeners adding a political charge to many of the tracks. Albarn, the creator of the Gorillaz, says ,"I suppose we were imagining the idea of Donald Trump. It’s not about Donald Trump at all. But it was imagining that in a way. That was our dark fantasy, and unfortunately that became our reality.” Check the set list below and be sure to listen to their new singles! Humanz Tracklist: 01. Ascension (feat. Vince Staples) 02. This is a 3-day event no one would want to miss! From rock to rap and everything in between is sandwiched between August 3rd and 6th. This will be the festival’s 25th anniversary and are clearly getting acts to make it a memorable one. With 8 stages and 170+ bands no one could be bored at Chicago’s best Festival!
Thursday kicks off the festival with acts like Muse and Cage The Elephant. Muse’s most recent release was Drones which brought us “Psycho,” and who could forget their classic hit “Uprising.” Cage The Elephant’s last release was Tell Me I’m Pretty. Another band with so many hits that it is hard to narrow which ones to bring up. “Cigarette Daydreams” from Melophobia remains one of my favorites. A simple song that showcases the band’s raw talent for music and providing a more melancholic feel. On Friday, The Killers and Blink-182 are set to take the stage. These are two very iconic rock bands of our time. Blink-182’s most recent release was California and will be releasing a deluxe edition later this year. My favorite song off their last album was “San Diego,” which talks about the band’s struggles throughout the years and what they have endured. The Killers are class act that demands attention with their crisp and clear sound. Brandon Flowers vocals on all their album are simply amazing and show how well has mastered his craft. The Killer’s songs always have no pun intended killer solos to look forward to! Saturday will feature Chance the Rapper and ALT-J. The “Broccoli” or better known as “No Problem” man chance will indeed be performing. Hot off the heels of his last album Coloring Book and Grammy awards. Simply put if you have not heard of chance you have been living under a rock as he has been a huge supporter of public school education while laying down bars. You can also listen to Acid Rap free. ALT-J will also be playing this day too. The English Band from Leeds is best known for “Breezeblocks.” ALT-J’s unique sound is what drives fans crazy and crave more! They will also be playing in Boston in July! |
