By Michael Connelly The German duo known as the Picturebooks have teamed up with skate, swimwear, and snowboarding brand Volcom to release their debut track called “Zero Fucks Given” for the album Home is a Heartache set to release March 10, 2017. This is the duo’s first release since Imaginary Horse (2014). Members Flynn Claus Grabke (Vocals, Guitar) and Phillip Mirtschink (Drums) quickly became friends at a local skate park and found that their interests went beyond skating and into the world of music.
Home is a Heartache will have 14 tracks and was recorded in the band’s garage where the duo regularly performs maintenance on their motorcycles. The sound of the environment where the album was recorded certainly echoes the vibes of a personal gearhead’s workshop. Fynn Claus Grabke (vocals, guitar) and Philipp Mirtschink (drums) have taken the time in investing in new gear for their sophomore album. Flyn spent time buying dusty thrift shop guitars in Los Angeles, to create his own frankenstein of a guitar! While Phillip played around in recreating tribal drums heard, played, and inspired by Native Americans. The experimental drummer has also discontinued the use of cymbals and is now using larger Toms that he hits with mallets over sticks. These modifications for the duo’s instruments has helped the succeed in generating a factory-esque blues-rock infused ensemble. Home is a Heartache is available now, and fans who pre-order the album through iTunes or Amazon will receive an instant download of "Zero Fucks Given.” The duo is currently signed with Another Century Records since 2016.
