By Anthony Cannella On this day in Rock history in 2005, System Of A Down tops American album charts with their fourth album ‘Mezmerize’. The album ‘Mezmerize’ was an instant success as it accomplished this accolade while only being released a couple of weeks beforehand. This achievement and how quickly it was accomplished should be no surprise, due to the fact that this intense and confrontational album was nothing short of a work of art. In addition to the quality of the album, Serj Tankian’s voice goes unmatched as it dramatically collaborated with co-vocalist and guitarist Daron Malakian, bassist Shavo Odadjian, and drummer John Dolmayan. With this albums duration being about thirty-six minutes, it included hit singles: B.Y.O.B, Cigaro, Violent Pornography, Question!, and Old School Hollywood.
It is well known, that ‘Mezmerize’ goes in the books as System Of A Down’s most praised and highest rated album yet with a score of eighty-five. In addition to the ratings, this album debuted at number one on the charts in at least twelve countries, making it one of the most revolutionizing albums of its time.
