Rumors surrounding a new Tool album have been circulating for months, and over this past weekend, those rumors have finally been confirmed. In a Facebook post, Tool confirmed the band is currently in the studio recording the first full-length album from the group since 2006's 10,000 Days.
This isn't the first time that Tool has taken to social media to fuel the album rumors. Last month, Tool frontman, Maynard James Keenum announced via Twitter that he “Started getting music files from the boys w the word FINAL in the title a few months ago after 11 years of begging. Words & Melodies 100% DONE on all but 1. Someday we’ll track them. Long way from the finish line, but at least we’re closer.” The tweets have since been deleted from Keenum's account.
No official release date has been confirmed at this time, but fans can expect the band to periodically share bits and pieces from their studio sessions.
"We are very excited to announce what is sure to be welcome news for both fans of TOOL and prog-metal enthusiasts in general" the post reads. "After all the years of writing and arranging (and re-arranging) at the band’s loft, I can at this time officially report that the guys have moved into a major studio where the recording process for the next album is about to begin in earnest."
