This past Wednesday, Everclear's annual Summerland Tour swept into Boston's House of Blues for an all night party of hard rocking and nineties nostalgia. Over the years, tour founder and Everclear frontman Art Alexakis has put together impressive bills featuring bands like Lit, Eve 6, Spacehog, Filter, Sugar Ray, and more. This year Summerland offered fans  American HiFi, Fuel, and Toadies, in support of Everclear's latest full length Black is the New Black.

To kick off the night, Boston's own American HiFi came out swinging with a cover of Cheap Trick's "Hello There" performed alongside Everclear's Art Alexis. HiFi led fans through a short but sweet set of eight tracks including crowd favorites like "Flavor of the Weak," "Happy," and "The Art of Losing." After charging up the hometown crowd, the Tennessee rockers in Fuel took the stage, delivering on tunes like "Bad Day" and "Shimmer," with frontman Brett Scallions offering Boston a better than studio performance of "Hemorrhage (In My Hands)." Next on the bill, came the Toadies supporting their 2012 full length Play.Rock.Music. The Texan grungers played a medley of crowd favorites including "Possum Kingdom," "Tyler," and their recent "Rattler's Revival."

After the nineties approved line up finished their sets, the House of Blues was primed for the Californian kings to take the stage. In true Everclear fashion, Art and company came out to Sparkle and Fade's "Heroin Girl". The eleven song set guided fans on a playlist of Evercleafr essentials like "Wonderful," "Father of Mine," "I Will Buy You a New Life," "Santa Monica," and "Everything to Everyone." The Santa Monica rockers also took the opportunity to flex some new songs off their latest full length Black is the New Black with pit starters like "American Monster" and "The Man Who Broke His Own Heart." This year's Summerland Tour brought radio classics back to the stage they belong on and offered a hard hitting night fans are sure to remember.
