Earlier this week, legendary musical every-man, Dave Grohl, and his mother Virginia Grohl stopped by CBS's The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on April 26 to talk about Virginia Grohl's new book "From Cradle to Stage: Stories From The Mothers Who Rocked And Raised Rock Stars."
They were also there to do what every mom loves to do best, embarrass her son on national television with a photo of a young Dave in elementary school and even a less than stellar report card.
She recounts on her son, "I didn't know he was going to be a rockstar. I knew he was going to be a musician," Virginia told Colbert. "I knew really earlier he was going to be an entertainer. I have a feeling that some of you [entertainers] have it in your blood somewhere that you just start out being goofy, silly and making people laugh."
On the topic of life on the road and Dave's past musical history, Colbert asked about how Nirvana frontman Kurt Kobain's death affected their relationship. She replied, "I think it did [change our relationship]...It was such a dark, sad time, and David came home after that, so we all sort of had to regroup. We talked a lot - we've always been able to say anything to each other - but that was a particularly incredible time. It's hard to express."

Stone Sour is back and better than ever with their new track AND video for "Fabuless" which you can watch right above! This track will mark the first material from the band after much anticipation and mystery surrounded a new project on the band's website and social media.
This new track is the first to be featured on the band's upcoming album "Hydrograd" which is set to release June 30th via Roadrunnner Records. As frontman Corey Taylor also notes, "We have six singles on this album. I’m really excited – this album is great because it’s got elements of everything. It’s got the heavy energy of the 80s, there’s punk moments, there’s hard rock moments – all the great amalgam of music.
"There’s even jazz and hip-hop moments, it’s really, really cool. It’s probably the coolest album I’ve made since the first Slipknot album. I feel very confident making that statement because it’s so good.”
Taylor also notes his excitement on the record, “We just destroyed it and it sounds incredible. Everyone is saying the same thing – not only are the songs good, but the energy is incredible because it has that live vibe."
We're definitely sharing his excitement here at HRTV and are excited to still be offering our April Stone Sour contest! Info and entry can be found on our front page and the contest tab above. Enter while you still can to be a part of the Stone Sour excitement! Don't forget to pre-order "Hydrograd" on the band's website!

Avenged Sevenfold’s video for the song “God Damn” has dropped today and can be seen below! The new music video comes from the band’s seventh studio album “The Stage.” “The Stage” was a surprise release this last October with very little promotion put into it. The album debuted at No.4 on The Billboard 200 album chart this last November. "God Damn" can be seen below! Also, a short video on the making of the video was posted to youtube!
Avenged Sevenfold will be touring with Metallica on the “WorldWired” tour. Live Nation will begin selling these tickets May 10th for the North American leg of the tour! The first show is set to kick fans in the teeth in Baltimore, Maryland!
"But the main idea was to get fans involved and make sure the kids knew this is a song full of energy first and foremost — 'hey, this is a record we can wrap our heads around. It's cool live stuff. It's a rockin' song' — but at the same time, we wanted the technological hint in there, so as the video progresses you start seeing things glitching out and all of a sudden the world turns digital. And by the end, there's a little nod to the lyrics; you see an eyeball kind of in there as an Easter egg, which is kind of big brother watching what we do the whole time as the humans turn into a digital world."- M. BBC Radio 1's Rock Show host Daniel P. Carter got a chance to sit down with Bring Me The Horizon and talk business about their forthcoming record.
Keyboardist/producer Jordan Fish revealed more about the record, "I don't think any of us know. I know there's a few things I know it won't be. It's not going to be a pop record. That's something that I don't think we'd ever do, like a straight boring pop record. It's not going to be a super heavy heavy record either."
"I think we'll probably take bits from what we did on Sempiternal, bits from what we did on That's The Spirit and take it off in another direction. As long as it's interesting and exciting that's all I really care about."
"I understand there's a load of people that want us to be super heavy and a load of people who only like the last album and don't like the heavier stuff," explains Fish. "That's just the nature of a band that's changed styles so much across the course of their career. For us, I just want to write something good and where it sits genre-wise is something someone else can worry about."

Of Mice & Men have released a new single titled "Unbreakable." As many fans may know already Austin Carlile had to leave as front man due to his fibrocystic connective tissue disorder Marfan Syndrome. Aaron Pauley has stepped up and taken the role as lead singer. This is the band's first song without Carlile and shows of what the future will bring from Of Mice & Men.
The band had hinted at the release of their new single via twitter and we could not be happier to hear the new sound! Of Mice & Men's last album was "Cold World" which was released only last year.

It's no secret that Linkin Park has definitely changed their sound in recent years. From "Hybrid Theory" to "Minutes to Midnight" to "Living Things" their sound has evolved into new and fresh directions.
Mike Shinoda sat down recently with with All Things Loud (via Radio.com) to talk on the how and why's the band has chosen a much lighter, more pop-like sound on the future release of "One More Light."
"We got off tour around a year and a half ago, and I'd already been writing a bunch of demos and playing things for the guys. I decided to stop in London, because I had been interested in potentially writing with some people outside of the band," he told the show.
"Justin Parker is one of them, and I'd seen his name on some credits including stuff by Lana Del Rey, and I also sat with Eg White who'd written with Florence + the Machine and Adele. We've always written all of our own stuff, even if we did have a couple of little collaborations on The Hunting Party. Those tracks were already written, though, with our collaborators just layering something else on top. The only collaboration which was written from scratch was the one with Daron from System of a Down on 'Rebellion.' It just got me interested in the idea of writing with other people."
"As a band and as friends we all know each other back to front, and I was really hoping to broaden my horizon and learn from some other writers who just do that for a living.
Shinoda continues, "During my first meeting with Justin Parker I just asked him, 'So, what the hell do you do for a living?' Like, I don't know anything about how it feels to be a songwriter and how it feels to go into sessions with people. I tried doing that in the early 2000s, but I absolutely hated it.
"So I asked Justin how it worked for him; do they do it all one-on-one, or are there writers camps where you all get together and work on, say, a Rihanna record? I got to learn from different folks how that worked, and for us there was one version which really worked but that probably wouldn't work for everybody.
"Each day we would come into the studio, and Brad and I would invite someone along so that we could have some small talk. We would ask each other what was on our minds each day and what we wanted to sing about. Sometimes it was something really stupid, but sometimes it would be something which ended up on One More Light."
What's your take on the new sound? Let us know on social media! Be sure to check out "One More Light" coming soon on May 19th!

BREAKING: Reported earlier today was speculation that longtime frontman Ivan Moody would be set to leave Five Finger Death Punch but since recently, Moody has come forward to clarify on his earlier statements.
Moody reporting in an official statement,
"It’s no secret that this has been a tough year for me and for my bandmates in Five Finger Death Punch. When you put everything you have into making music, both on and off the stage, it can be very frustrating when the music you work so hard to create is not allowed to see the light of day. I know we share this frustration with our fans too, who have come to expect new music from us – fans who mean everything to us. It is true that Five Finger Death Punch has come to a crossroads – and that crossroads is we’re all at a place where we will never again let someone or something hold us back from making music for our fans.
The lawsuit by Prospect Park holding our new album hostage has taken a toll on me. I was in a rehabilitation facility when Prospect Park decided to sue the band last year, and that was very difficult for me to handle all at once.
Yesterday I made a statement that was taken out of context by the media – a media always looking to create headlines that will make people click them. The truth is, I want to start a side-project like Corey Taylor has with Stone Sour or Maynard has with A Perfect Circle and I want to do it when Five Finger Death Punch’s deal with Prospect Park is over and we are out of this lawsuit.
THIS DOES NOT MEAN I PLAN ON LEAVING FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH!
The great thing about being a musician today is that you can explore your creativity in multiple ways without compromising your primary focus. I learned this watching people like Corey and Maynard and I think their fans are glad they’ve put more music out into the world. I hope my fans are, too.
All that said, Five Finger Death Punch fans can expect our next album via Prospect Park and we are geared up to tour all throughout 2017. We are about to leave for South America and Europe and we have other dates TBD.
All of us in the band have worked incredibly hard over the last 10 years to build this band and none of us are going to let that go just because our record company is trying to sabotage us. I am sorry if the media took my statement as a resignation, but I assure you it wasn’t.”
We would like to apologize for the earlier misreport. The remaining 2017 shows will still continue as planned. Check out the band's website for dates.
After a long and successful run as frontman of Fiver Finger Death Punch, Ivan Moody will leave the band.
Ivan was the first to break the news in a recent radio interview, “I have a meltdown. I was like Kanye West without the money… To be completely honest with you, Death Punch and I have kind of come to a crossroads. We’re very proud of what we’ve done – years and years and years of work… It’s time for us to take our way and for something else (rocksound.tv).”
The singer did that the change will not occur overnight. The band will finish its current tour cycle and Ivan is scheduled to leave FFDP at the end of 2017 to form his new band, Villain.
We will keep you up to date as the story develops. For now, the band has been confirmed as a headliner at High Elevation Festival alongside Korn, A Day To Remember, Stone Sour, Halestorm, and many more!
