Bad Wolves | 'Disobey' | Sony-By-Song Album Review
1. "Officer Down:" With an opening sample of, "911, what's your emergency;" the lyrics introduce the theme of the album including, "Hands up, don't shoot" and "Another heart breaks a little; a child left in the middle." Below is a preface to the track, taken from YouTube and written from the band themselves:
3. "No Masters:" My favorite lyrics from this song have to be, "Fists in the air, you better pick a side; against the plutocracy - So take these chains from me-" and there's a really beautiful guitar hook that loops around 2m14s and follows into a candid solo. What is plutocracy? Public records define, "a society ruled by people of great wealth or income."
4. "Zombie" (Cover of The Cranberries): This cover was sort of a surprise for me since it's not in the hardcore repertoire, yet the classic lyrics originally sung by Dolores O'Riordan speak undoubtedly against police cruelty and war; and so the concept fits this album. The music video begins with a dedication: Dolores departed Earth January 15th, 2018, the day she was meant to record a reprise of her vocals as a collaboration with Bad Wolves. All proceeds of this song benefit her children.
7. "Better The Devil:" Another top hit from the album, this track combines clean vocals with fast rhymes and guttural hardcore drops; the lyrics are anchored towards the abstract - deep, sorrowful - yet fun and metal-core!
12. "Shapeshifter:" This track is an ode to a special femme-fatale in the querent's or lyricist's life!
13. "Toast to the Ghost:" Alright, metal-core is re-animated in the last track of the album - the lyrics slay - and the lyric video is both comprised of gorgeous goth architecture mixed with edgy glitch patterns. Great ending to encompass the theme of this album.

On May 24th, Good Charlotte published a new lead single, "Actual Pain" from their seventh studio album titled, 'Generation RX' officially out September 14th, 2018 via a minted partnership between MDDN label andBMG.
For streaming and downloading of this new single: Here. Tour dates listed below!
If you're listening to "Actual Pain" for the first time, spoiler: there's no mistake of a new sound, and that would include electro-pop. I can't help but to say this melody reminds me of "St. Patrick" by PVRIS (which, rocks!). For more recommendations on this single, scan the Good Charlotte YouTube comments below:
‘Actual Pain’ mainly focuses on the darkness that is within us all. In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine here, Joel and Benji state, “Throughout this century we’ve seen the whole opioid crisis get worse. We wondered if we were really doing our part. We wanted to get back out there on the battlefield and spread insight, share experience and give anything we could to improve lives.” In addition, Joel and Benji Madden state, “Good Charlotte was at our best when we were unconscious and naive kids, who didn’t know it wasn’t cool to try hard or make new friends. There was an honesty and vulnerability we were able to share with the world back then, that makes us extremely proud of the young guys that we were. The wisdom that time gives you also comes with baggage and we’ve been searching for the door back in to that vulnerability, honesty and hopeful outlook that seems to only exist in innocence for a good 15 years. Generation Rx feels to us like we finally found our way back to that place.”
Since there's so much buzz; let's throwback to one of Good Charlotte's globally recognized single: "The Anthem" (2002) from the album, 'The Young and the Hopeless.' Un-arguably the genre is expressed as pop-punk. Yet, as fans wrote above, art is constantly changing, and that's what keeps us all intrigued!
Good Charlotte On Tour:
Alright USA; Good Charlotte is booked abroad in Europe until 2019; but we sure do expect a national home-based tour promoting their upcoming album, 'Generation RX.'

On this day in Rock history in 2005, System Of A Down tops American album charts with their fourth album ‘Mezmerize’. The album ‘Mezmerize’ was an instant success as it accomplished this accolade while only being released a couple of weeks beforehand. This achievement and how quickly it was accomplished should be no surprise, due to the fact that this intense and confrontational album was nothing short of a work of art. In addition to the quality of the album, Serj Tankian’s voice goes unmatched as it dramatically collaborated with co-vocalist and guitarist Daron Malakian, bassist Shavo Odadjian, and drummer John Dolmayan. With this albums duration being about thirty-six minutes, it included hit singles: B.Y.O.B, Cigaro, Violent Pornography, Question!, and Old School Hollywood.
It is well known, that ‘Mezmerize’ goes in the books as System Of A Down’s most praised and highest rated album yet with a score of eighty-five. In addition to the ratings, this album debuted at number one on the charts in at least twelve countries, making it one of the most revolutionizing albums of its time.

The band has also released a podcast-style commentary on the album available at: miw.lnk.to/GScommentary.
"Voices" MV (Track #08) | Directed by Travis Shinn and Jeremy Danger; who also collaborate for A Perfect Circle & Marilyn Manson - the lighting and narrative for the video is edgy and provocative along with the lyrics that speak about experiencing auditory hallucinations. The colors feature deep red, green and purple while vocalist Chris Motionless changes between a hypnotism inspired outfit and a straight-jacket. The best shift occurs at 3:19, towards a more violent delivery of the lyrics.
"570" (Track #10): Travis Shinn also directed the music video for this heavy track; released last June of 2017. One main parallel between these two videos is the duality or mirrored effect of instrumentalists playing; in "570" by contrast, we are presented with live concert footage - where the band members are performing within the pit itself! Imagine directing this many people - most of it has to be candid? Motivation to visit them live!

"Distortion" MV: "Give up; Give up - Can't stop the power; Stop the power;" the chorus is a classic Babymetal hook and the music video an epic fantasy narrative drenched in fire and ruins. Really a beautiful yet also exciting edge-of-seat song!

In the closing chapter to their debut album Lifelines, Michigan rock group I PREVAIL give fans their signature mix of narrative and humor with their new music video for “RISE”. Directed by the team at Dominar Films, the video follows the boys of I Prevail attempting to face off against the most challenging of foes in a modern arcade environment. The track is a favorite off their debut album Lifelines, released in 2016.
"We knew we wanted to create a video for 'RISE' very early on in the making of ‘Lifelines’,” lead-guitarist Steve Menoian explains. “The song is an anthem about the competition and dedication that come with overcoming obstacles and achieving goals. During our first year of touring, we spent almost every day off at Dave & Busters. This was partly because we couldn't afford hotels or fancy restaurants, but mostly because we found ourselves having to compete with each other at every turn, no matter how petty or small the stakes. It’s just part of who we are. This video will give you a front row seat to our over competitiveness and a window into our darker sense of humor. The entire process of making this video allowed us to travel back in time and remember how much we love what we do and how we wouldn't want to be doing this without each other and our fans.”
The band is currently playing mid-west dates at select venues and making several festival appearances, including Rock On The Range, Rocklahoma, and Rockfest.

American rock titans POP EVIL have debuted a stunning new music video for their track, “A Crime To Remember.” Directed by Columbia Tatone, who also directed the band’s last two videos, “Waking Lions” and “Colors Bleed,” this is now the third music video installment we’ve seen from the band’s most recent self-titled LP.
The video beautifully defines the core message of the song, which is clear and present in the song’s triumphant background vocals: “Are we divided / Are we united?” - also a constant theme throughout the new LP.
Vocalist Leigh Kakaty comments, “Columbia has delivered what we feel is the most powerful video to date for Pop Evil. The concept keeps an open book storyline on how human beings view the world at the moment. Our hope is to raise awareness that it’s time for all of us to come together and be united.”
The video is also in memory of late producer Kato Khandwala who was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident last month in Los Angeles. Kato had produced countless rock albums including the most recent Pop Evil LP. Kakaty continues, “It’s been a long few weeks for us, we are still grieving the loss of Kato who was an incredible talent and an amazing human being. His daughter Paris is in need of help since his passing, donations can be made to her HERE.”
POP EVIL will return to American amphitheaters in full force supporting two legendary acts, POISON and CHEAP TRICK on the “Poison…Nothin’ But A Good Time 2018” tour. VIP Packages are available now at popevilvip.com. Produced by Live Nation, tickets for all cities are on sale now.

According to Press Here Productions, the debut solo album titled 'Black Labyrinth' from composer, producer, vocalist, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Davis [Korn] has been in development since 2007 and will be published May 25th, 2018 via Sumerian Records.
In anticipation, singles have been released in order of most recent: "Basic Needs" [05.25.18], "Everyone" MV [03.30.18] and "What It Is" MV [01.25.18].
Furthermore, sneak a 30-Second sample of each song on the [13 tracks] album at this official YouTube link: 'Black Labyrinth (Official Album Teaser).' Fan? Pre-Order!
Press Here comments that 'Black Labyrinth' was inspired by the Ganzfeld Experiment, and the "out of body experiences and hallucinations that often accompany it." Public records explain the root of the term is from German for "entire field" and is a technique used in parapsychology to test individuals for extrasensory perception (ESP) such as telepathy or "sixth sense" phenomena.
Right at the thumbnail for this video we have a sense of the theme for the album, as it seems Jonathan is under mental surveillance. "Basic Needs" is a fascinating title mid-album concept because where the mind and body eclipse: sustenance, air, and shelter are primal for survival; yet, is this a love song? The lyrics turn sentimental, track the chorus below!
A radical instrumental shift dawns at 3Min & 25 Seconds, the introduction of occult-inspired percussion, orchestra and wind instruments add depth and grace to the rock classics: drums, guitar and bass.
This is a recognizable lyrical flow from Jonathan which we deem akin to classics! The depth of the poetry comments on hypocrisy within organized institutions that do not practice what they preach; the music video features an ambiguous cult brainwashing new recruits through a visual contraption and culminates in members choking on their blood at a dinner-table after an initiation. Solid!
Gif | "Everyone" MV
The motif of police and mental health, seclusion, and the Ganzfeld Experiment hits home here with the final track of the album. The music video features Jonathan in isolation and under analysis, eventually torture by police brutality. Including the first verse below yet the chorus is catchy and memorable!
