Just reported in today, news of sadness breaks across the music world. Legendary frontman of grunge pioneers Soundgarden as well as Audioslave, Chris Cornell was reported deceased. The news comes 12 hours after performing Detroit's Fox Theater last night, which would unfortunately end up being his last performance.
An autopsy report concluded that the cause of death was due to hanging and was ruled as a suicide.
Soundgarden closed their show last night with Led Zeppelin classic, "In My Time of Dying," the song goes as follows, "In my time of dying, I want nobody to mourn. All I want for you to do is take my body home." The band has covered the song in past shows.
Bandmate and beloved friend Tom Morello gave his heartfelt goodbye on Instagram today, "I love you, brother. Thank you for your friendship and your humor and your intellect and your singular and unmatched talent. It was a great honor to know you as a friend and as a band mate. I am devastated and deeply saddened that you are gone dear friend but your unbridled rock power, delicate haunting melodies and the memory of your smile are with us forever. Your beautiful voice and beautiful self will always be in my heart. God bless you and your family."
Our best thoughts and wishes go out to Cornell's family and loved ones.
