By Haley Biermann Stone Sour has released their new album Hydrograd in full! The album can be streamed in its entirety through its YouTube playlist. You can also take a listen to the disc, which was released today via Roadrunner Records.
The album was recorded at Sphere Studios in Hollywood, California, and produced by Jay Ruston. Frontman Corey Taylor discussed the live studio setting with iHeartRadio. He said there was “No click, no grid, no beat detective, no Auto-Tune, no fake guitar sounds, everything was real.” Stone Sour recorded a total of 18 songs at the studio, 15 of which appear on the CD. The album is over an hour long, and contains a variety of styles. You can feed your hard rock craving with metal riffs and Taylor’s harsh yells by listening to “Somebody Stole My Eyes,” but also cool off with more traditional singing and even a country-folk style with “St. Marie.” Taylor calls the album “an evolution. It's taking everything that we've done on the last few albums, and really honing it down and turning that diversity into more cohesion” Taylor also said of the album, “It's some of the best music that we've ever created as a band, and I hope that people listen to my singing and my writing and just can see where I'm at from a personal standpoint and from a professional standpoint. I feel like it's my best work that I've done in a long time and I don't really care if people don't hear it, say it's heavy or whatnot. It's just really good straight-up rock and roll, and it's amazing." "Hydrograd" track listing: 01. YSIF 02. Taipei Person/Allah Tea 03. Knievel Has Landed 04. Hydrograd 05. Song #3 06. Fabuless 07.
