To promote 'Violent Noise,' The Word Alive published the above [12:26Min] behind-the-scenes documentary via Fearless. Pictured in the video's screen-capture, Telle Smith opens the conversation exclaiming he's in "the middle of the desert" celebrating the arrival of taking "part in another tour, and another album cycle."
At first impact, Telle shares the inspiration behind the title and lyrics for the 2018 single, "Red Clouds." He expresses, "I'm stopped off in between Phoenix and LA heading 10 East. I'm at [the cross-roads of] Red Cloud Road and Union Road. I've made this drive back and forth so many years trying to pursue music."
Later he digresses, "Any person who's wanting to chase your dreams; this song is that song - You'll find that moment to seize; be willing to make that drive."
This promotional exclusive further captures Telle, Zack and Tony's recent reunion in Phoenix,Arizona in front of their old practice room in Francisco Studio, where they remember rehearsing circa 2008 upon Telle's addition to the team.
Zack exclaims about the band's creation and writing process since the beginning, "It was natural [without having] to force anything; Francisco Studio is where it all started."
The Word Alive | "Red Clouds" | 03.29.18 | Review
Upon first listen and viewing, the graphic design of this video is quite beautiful - abstract fractals have yet to betray audiences; this mesmerizing video is no exception.
Will admit that a lyric video would have curated an enhanced experience; happily the lyrics are officially published in the video's description section and or are available for contemplation via the lyric forum Genius linked here.
Speaking of, as far as lyrical delivery, we welcome the contrasted balance between "clean" and "harsh" vocals; as is true of their previous album's repertoire.
These lyrics are delivered melodically:
"the drive to be someone you're not;
While these are delivered with Telle's heavier signature:
"I told myself that i was doing the right thing;
Instrumentally, my favorite drop hits at exactly 2MIN and 38S; heavy, it's preluded by an electronic beat that dynamically shifts into a persistent bass loop and pulse.
Led to believe The Word Alive's upcoming album 'Violent Noise' will surprise us with an extensively eclectic setlist once the album drops May 04 via Fearless.

New fan of The Word Alive? Recommend Music Videos:
There's a soft spot within metal, rock and hardcore for any band that uses their platform to highlight political discrepancies; in this (2016) music video release, The Word Alive compiled public protest news footage to their live performance highlighting the audience escalate into a running circle-pit around the circular stage. This song is one of their heaviest in my opinion; a personal favorite!
The song and music video "Trapped" has over 1 million views and features the band's silhouette upon massive panels of LED's, cut between a narrative of the protagonist dealing with some sort of drug abuse reminiscent of scenes from Darren Aronofsky's cult classic psychological thriller, Requiem for a Dream (2000).
