Warped Announces Last Cross-Country Tour:
Last Fall, on November 15th, 2017, festival founder Kevin Lyman, who conceived Warped in 1995, published this official statement:
In a Billboard interview, Kevin shares the reasons behind the departure of his brand and festival, including "an evolving summer festival industry, a shrinking pool of bands, and declining ticket sales amongst its teenage demographic" amongst personal reasons.
Kevin remarks, "Warped Tour has only made money on tickets once, and that was the summer of Warped and TRL; I had booked Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance [as they were breaking on MTV and Top 40] a year ahead of time - That was my first time I ever booked bands a year ahead of time."

With years of experience building an empire, Kevin will now focus on, "education, philanthropy and music; A lot of my future initiatives I hope will include me working in that direction (HeadCount, registering people to vote, blood drive and canned food drives).
Vans VP of Events and Promotions include Steve Van Doren, Fletcher Dragge (Pennywise), Silverstein and more. According to Billboard, "Vans became Warped's primary sponsor in 1996, and it's been the Vans Warped Tour ever since."
Journeys joined as a sponsor in recent years [2016; unconfirmed].
The same day Early Bird Tickets went on sale, Vans Warped Tour published a farewell documentary titled, "Last Call," featuring interviews from Kevin, Vans VP members, and iconic past-performance artists; video link is here or watch below!
"Last Call" Warped Documentary Quotes:
Fletcher Dragge (Pennywise):
"It was like an insane, never ending, backyard party. You can see 60 bands if you run fast enough."
Steve Van Doren (VP of Vans).
"All those 11 million plus fans, this is the last full tour we're gonna do."
Billy Hampton & Shane Told (Silverstein):
"Our first show was in 2003; 235 shows on Warped Tour since then."
Kevin Lyman (Founder of Warped):
"It's pretty simple. You come, you play 30 minutes, everyone's treated equally."
Monique Powell (Save Farris):
"First time playing Warped Tour was in 1998. Skating, Vans, punk music, ska music; I don't want to say it's the end of an era, but it is."
Who can resist reminiscing on the "Rock Show" Blink 182 lyrics circa 2001:
"I couldn't wait for the summer and the Warped Tour!"
